Positive Behavior Program

Bloomsights is an online communication tool that helps bridge the gap between what students are feeling and what educators can see. By giving our students a structured, private way to share their experiences, Poplar Grove gains meaningful insight into how students are doing socially, emotionally, and behaviorally so that our school can take action with clarity and care.

This is a program developed to pair our students with staff in the building who can help to motivate them to reach their academic and behavioral goals using a point system. It’s successful because of the accountability, but more importantly because of the relationship building done between staff and students!

Our House System fosters camaraderie by allowing students of all grade levels to build relationships while participating in friendly competitions and service learning opportunities. Our 4 houses are Almitas, Coraticus, Reverentum, and Sapenta. We have 16 House Captains that were identified through teacher referrals and a school-wide vote. These students were chosen due to their exemplary reputation of being kind, respectful, and leaders within their grade level and houses. House Captains attend parades, help lead our school-wide service learning opportunities, lead cheers for our Houses at House Day Games, attend community events with our school administration, and give valuable feedback on our student Principal Advisory Council.

Each month, students with perfect attendance are put into a raffle to win a large basket of goodies! Attendance matters here at PGS!

Our school utilizes a ticket system to incentivize students to work hard, follow PGS expectations, and show kindness. Our PBS team meets to plan many opportunities for our students to spend their hard earned tickets throughout the year. Examples of ways students can spend their tickets would be quarterly raffles for prizes, purchasing upgraded experiences at school-wide festivals, etc. Our students can also be nominated by a staff to receive a Superticket for going above and beyond the PGS expectations, which earns them a special treat and earns their House 10 points. 

Throughout the building you will find mentors who are intentionally paired with students to help encourage them and support them throughout the school year.
